Name, logo and artwork design The Common Linnets

The Common Linnets are a Dutch band comprising Ilse DeLange, and Waylon. The band represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen. Their song for the competition was "Calm After the Storm”. Rens Dekker came up with the name for the band:‚ The Common Linnets’ and designed the CD cover artwork for both‚ Calm After The Storm’ and their self-titled album, that was released in May 2014. Ilse and Waylon are from the eastern part of The Netherlands. In Dutch people from this region are sometimes called ‘heikneuters’, referring to the songbird ‘kneu’. In English this bird is called a common linnet. So in fact Ilse and Waylon are both singing birds from the eastern Netherlands.
